Mens Rugby – Captains and Coaches 2023/24

Andy Stein – 1st XV Captain

Andy was an Old Wesley man in college but stopped playing rugby for a couple of years. James Sadlier got him up for a second’s match for Stillorgan in 2018 and the rest is history. Started as a hooker but with the skills of a back, found himself in first centre for a season or two. He’s where he belongs now in the back row and looking forward to captaining SRRFC this season.

Eoin Fitzgerald – 2nd XV Captain

Originally a Kildare man who migrated to South Dublin back in 2005, Eoin joined the club in 2022. He began his underage career with Greystones before moving on to Terenure. While living in London, Eoin fell out rugby for about 5 years. When he returned, Eoin joined Stillorgan-Rathfarnham and the rest is history. Eoin can often be found practicing foot golf, drinking pints and watching Rugby.

Adult Mens Director of Rugby – Colm McKay

Colm joined Stillorgan-Rathfarnham RFC before the 2019-20 season and was part of the Metro 5 league winning team that year. He continued to play until 2022 but injuries forced him to hang up the boots. A veteran of 5 other rugby clubs in Dublin and Galway, Colm says that Stillorgan-Rathfarnham RFC is the club he felt most at home and he was keen to stay involved with the senior squad in some capacity. Colm took the role of Director of Senior Rugby in May 2023.

Eoin Murphy – Senior Coach

Originally from Killester, Eoin played his rugby in Clontarf RFC for over 16 years. Eoin joined Stillorgan RFC during the 2022/23 season. Eoin will operate as a player/coach for the 2023/24 season, providing cover as a utility back. Eoin is excited about the season ahead:

“There is a brilliant group of players at the club and real community that stems from age grade to senior. I have big ambitions for this club and with the support from the players, management and the members, I think great things are around the corner.”

Simon Tonge – Senior Coach

Simon joined the club in 2021 after a 10-year hiatus from the game. Simon played schools and club rugby for Blackrock College before hanging up his boots. After moving into the Rathfarnham area,  Simon was looking to get back into a team sport when he drove past Heavey Technology Park, and spotted a signpost looking for new players.

After a successful 2 years playing most positions within the pack for both the 1st and 2nd teams, Simon hung up his boots permanently. For the 2023/24 season, Simon has joined the management team and will take responsibility for the 2nd XV as well as coaching the forwards.
